Planet boing
– Our favorite planet in the world –
Studio boing might look like a typical design studio, but with a bit more imagination one can see that what’s really being designed is a planet, from the inside-out, starting with its furniture.
Exactly what makes a planet nobody knows, but they’re definitely made of furniture. Our interpretation of furniture is broad, we must admit, for it includes boulders, trees and animals. In our definition, furniture can be any physical object, whether it is geological, biological or cultural, as long as it is large enough to sit on and small enough to be moveable.
The Portuguese have this definition even integrated in their language. Their word for furniture (móvel) literally translates to “moveable” while their word for building (imóvel) by contrast translates to “unmoveable”. Surely there are many more criteria possible for furniture, but when it comes to the body it is their size and their “supportive ability” that are the most important.
